AccuMist Success Story

The MCS"AccuMist system is capable of delivering a variety of precise patterns.

The MCS"AccuMist system combines Sono-Teks unique Microspray ultrasonic atomizing nozzle with low-pressure air to produce a soft, highly focused beam of spray.

" Ultrasonic liquid spray nozzle does not contact work surface.
" Soft, low-velocity delivery will not harm or disturb components.
" No overspray means no waste.
" Spray pattern adjustable from 0.070 - 0.250 inches.
" Wide range of delivery rates from 1 - 250 microliters/second.
" Ultrasonic nozzle will never clog.
" Adapts easily to robotic control.

AccuMist Success Story

Pillarhouse International Chooses AccuMist

Pillarhouse international announced recently that they will integrate Sono-Tek AccuMist Ultrasonic Systems into all of their selective soldering equipment, including the revolutionary new Sapphire DW-100.

"We chose the AccuMist system for its accuracy, reliability and greatly reduced maintenance," states David Johnson, UK Sales Manager for Pillarhouse. "We require extremely accurate and reliable spray fluxing for high-volume production, where overspray must be near zero and flux waste reduced to an absolute minimum," explains Johnson, "and the AccuMist system meets all these criteria."

"In addition," Johnson notes, "the AccuMist system provides us with an atomized round spray flux formation from between 2.0 to 7.0 mm in diameter, with the ability to adjust flux density from 1 to 150 microliters/second. Dispense times are programmable and excellent results are achieved with all commonly available fluxes."

Pillarhouse International is the leading manufacturer of selective soldering equipment in the U.K. In the past 24 months, Pillarhouse has installed more than 35 systems in high-volume manufacturing facilities in 12 countries.

Focusing Air Shroud

Compressed air, typically at 1 psi, is introduced into the diffusion chamber (1) of the air shroud (2), which produces a uniformly distributed flow of air around the nozzle stem (3).

The ultrasonically produced spray at the tip of the stem is immediately entrained in the air stream. An adjustable focusing mechanism (4) on the air shroud allows complete control of spray width.

The spray envelope is conical. The width of the cone is controlled by moving the focus-adjust mechanism in and out. The distance between nozzle and substrate can be varied from near-contact to approximately two inches.
